The eighteen cards were designed as six connected panoramas. Choose an island, visit a scene, and touch each Pokémon to reveal the card that completes the landscape.

Southern Islands was conceived as one continuous work. The cards stand on their own, but reveal another reading when returned to their place in the panorama.
Numbered 1/18 in the English edition, Mew occupies the left side of the Sky panorama. Pidgeot and Onix complete the same scene—three cards becoming one illustration.
Each of the six scenes was divided into three artworks. Placed in collection order, their borders visually disappear and the Pokémon share the same place again.
The Japanese edition debuted on July 17 alongside the second movie, in two nine-card promotional folders: Tropical Island and Rainbow Island.
The English collection arrived on July 31 with all 18 numbered cards, a decorated folder, postcards, and three booster packs.
